From an interior world to the outdoors.
Since leaving Art College in the late seventies I have always been interested in the interior world, with the pre occupation of our daily rituals. I love to play with colour and symbolism whilst working with a variety of media, the immediacy of watercolour and the physical qualities of oil and acrylic paint.
Lately, I have been drawn to the outdoors focusing on animals, birds and their freedom, taking in the disquiet of earth and the need for more response to the changing environment. I wish to express evolving interaction, which not only conveys uncertainty and challenges but hope.
I have been using mosaic too as a solid medium, learning to use the shapes between form to help convey the movement and expression of the piece as in brushstrokes. I have also used poetry and video to portray my investigations.
